All Mazurkas of the World Festival in Warsaw
All Mazurkas of the World Festival is a spring gathering in Warsaw devoted to the living tradition of the mazurka, oberek, kujawiak and polonaise. Held each April since 2010, in the wake of the Chopin Year celebrations, it brings village-rooted folk bands, dancers and instrument makers together for concerts, workshops and an overnight dance marathon at Centrum Promocji Kultury Praga-Poludnie.
The mazurka is one of Poland's oldest surviving dance and music traditions, a triple-time rhythm rooted in Mazovian village life that eventually traveled abroad through Chopin's mazurkas and became a symbol of Polish identity across Europe.
