AgitAgueda in Agueda
AgitÁgueda is an arts and street-animation festival in Águeda best known for the Umbrella Sky Project, thousands of colorful umbrellas suspended above the town's streets each summer since 2012. Running from July through September, it pairs the umbrella installation with concerts, street entertainment and afterhours events across the small town in central Portugal.
Águeda is a modest town in central Portugal that would likely draw little international attention if not for a single design idea introduced in 2012: suspending thousands of colorful umbrellas above its main streets, creating a canopy of color visible from the ground and, increasingly in the years since, from countless social media photographs.
