The story

Fura Festival in Furadouro/Ovar

Fura Festival is a free, family-oriented summer beach festival launched by the municipality of Ovar in August 2025 at Praia do Furadouro, combining live concerts with more than forty free activities such as surfing, bodyboarding, cycling, and yoga.

Praia do Furadouro, part of the municipality of Ovar on Portugal's Aveiro coast, had long relied on scattered summer programming to draw visitors before the town's council consolidated its ambitions into a single branded event.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

As a brand-new municipal initiative, Fura Festival's distinguishing feature is its sheer breadth of free programming rather than long tradition: over forty activities across three days, including surf, bodyboard, surfskate, and longboard sessions, guided bike tours, go-kart circuits, yoga and zumba classes, inflatables for children, an artisan market, and a beach cleanup on the closing morning

02

The mystery stays covered

The debut edition's concert lineup featured Miguel Araujo, Aurea, and Os Quatro e Meia

03

The city starts moving

Mayor Domingos Silva has described it as years of planning around branding Ovar's beach tourism offer, and it ran alongside a separate, earlier-August event called Fura Beer Fest at the town's covered market
