GUIdance Guimaraes in Guimaraes
GUIdance is Guimarães's international contemporary dance festival, held each February since the early 2010s across the city's main cultural venues. Now well into its second decade of editions, it brings Portuguese and international choreographers together for a program built around new creation rather than established repertoire. Organized largely through the Centro Cultural Vila Flor, it has grown into one of the country's most consistent contemporary dance platforms.
Guimarães carries the unofficial title of the birthplace of Portugal, its walled medieval core and hilltop castle credited in national memory with the country's founding in the twelfth century.
