Boom Festival in Idanha-a-Nova

Boom Festival is a biennial psychedelic trance and transformational arts gathering held on the shores of a lake near Idanha-a-Nova, in inland central Portugal. Founded in 1997 and relocated to its current lakeside site in the early 2000s, it draws tens of thousands of international visitors for a week built around the Dance Temple stage, visionary art and sustainability-focused infrastructure.

Boom Festival began in 1997 at Herdade do Zambujal near Águas de Moura, a modest gathering inspired by the Goa trance parties that had shaped psychedelic trance culture through the 1990s.
