IndieLisboa in Lisbon
IndieLisboa is Lisbon's international independent film festival, held each spring across the city's cinemas since 2004. Over roughly eleven days it screens more than 270 features and shorts that fall outside mainstream distribution, ranging from bold debut works to films by celebrated auteurs. Competitive sections sit alongside curated sidebars such as Silvestre and Mouth of Madness, drawing directors and audiences from across Europe.
IndieLisboa began in 2004 with a clear intention: to show Lisbon audiences the films that never reach a regular cinema screen, the festival-circuit work that plays at Cannes or Berlin and then quietly disappears from view before it can find a local release.
