The story

One World Romania in Bucharest

One World Romania is a Bucharest documentary and human rights film festival, now in its nineteenth edition, extending through touring programs, educational events, and a documentary development initiative called KineDok that together reach audiences well beyond the festival's own main screening week in the capital each year.

One World Romania built its reputation on programming documentaries willing to take genuine creative and political risks, a positioning confirmed by director Radu Jude, who called it the most important festival in Romania in his view, specifically for the courage to promote films he described as truly bold, radical, and innovative.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

One World Romania has been described by prominent Romanian director Radu Jude as the country's most important festival for its willingness to promote genuinely bold, radical, and innovative films, a reputation the festival has built through consistently programming documentaries that engage directly with social and political issues

02

The mystery stays covered

Beyond its central festival week, the organization runs an extensive year-round footprint: OWR On Tour brings programming to other Romanian cities, including a Timisoara edition, KineDok supports documentary development and distribution, Cineclub Sahia Vintage revisits archival Romanian documentary work, and a dedicated high-school program, Zilele Liceenilor, has drawn over 800 teenagers into structured engagement with documentary film and civic themes
