Spotlight Bucharest in Bucharest
Spotlight Bucharest is a light art and projection festival held in Bucharest's historic Old Town, transforming facades along its narrow streets with illuminated installations and video projections after dark. Founded in the mid-2010s, it typically runs over several nights in autumn, drawing crowds who walk a set route through the district to view each installation.
Bucharest's Old Town, the Lipscani district, spent much of the post-communist period as a somewhat rundown but architecturally rich pocket of the capital, its historic facades often overshadowed by the nightlife and cafe culture that gradually revitalized the area's ground floors while its upper stories and side streets remained comparatively overlooked after dark.
