Transilvania International Film Festival in Cluj-Napoca

The Transilvania International Film Festival, known as TIFF, is Romania's largest film festival, founded in 2002 by director Tudor Giurgiu and held annually in Cluj-Napoca each late spring or early summer. It screens international and Romanian features, documentaries, and shorts across cinemas and open-air venues, awarding the Transilvania Trophy to its top competition entry.

When Tudor Giurgiu founded the Transilvania International Film Festival in 2002, Romanian cinema was only beginning the international rise that would soon bring directors like Cristian Mungiu and Cristi Puiu to Cannes.
