Day of Siberian Merchants in Mariinsk
Mariinsk turns back the clock each July to its nineteenth-century heyday as a Siberian merchant town, when Bolshaya Moskovskaya Street served as the main artery of regional trade. The two-day Day of Siberian Merchants combines a costumed carnival procession and a large merchant fair with kettlebell sport competitions, business masterclasses for young entrepreneurs, and an evening fireworks display over Suvorov Park.
Mariinsk does not often feature on lists of Siberia's must-visit towns, a modest settlement in the Kemerovo region best known today, if at all, for its railway stop along the Trans-Siberian line.
