Big Bear Kolyma Arctic Cultures Festival in Srednekolymsk
Big Bear (Bolshaya Medveditsa) is a festival of the national cultures of the Kolyma Arctic peoples, held in Srednekolymsk district, Sakha Republic, with the 2026 edition running 12 to 18 March as its second staging. It was held under the banners of Russia's Year of Unity of Peoples, Yakutia's Year of Culture and the district's Year of Youth, drawing seminars, exhibitions, theater, concerts and sport.
Srednekolymsk sits in one of the most genuinely remote corners of inhabited Russia, a district on the Kolyma River in the Sakha Republic's far northeast, thousands of kilometers from Moscow and reachable only with real effort even by Siberian standards.
