The story

Land of the Leopard Day Festival in Vladivostok

Leopard Day is Vladivostok's spring celebration of the Far Eastern leopard, the world's rarest big cat, held on Admiral Fokin Square and the Sportivnaya Harbor embankment since 2014 and annually since 2022. Organized by Land of the Leopard National Park, the free festival marks the species' slow recovery with a costume contest, a themed fun run, face painting, live music and family activities built entirely around one animal.

Almost nobody in Vladivostok has ever seen a Far Eastern leopard in the wild, and that is more or less the point of Leopard Day.
