Ysyakh Tuymaady in Yakutsk
Ysyakh Tuymaady fills the open field of Us Khatyn near Yakutsk with two days of ceremonial rites, horse racing, and the Dygyn Games, a national all-around competition carrying real local prestige. More than 100 events run across the celebration, moving between solemn ritual and festive competition as families and friends gather across the grounds.
By late June, the air outside Yakutsk feels wide and restless, and people stream into Us Khatyn as if the whole city has agreed to meet under the same enormous sky.
