Tolstoy Weekend in Yasnaya Polyana

Now officially known simply as Tolstoy, this international open-air theatre festival ran under the name Tolstoy Weekend from its 2016 founding until a rebrand before the 2019 edition. Held annually on September 9, Leo Tolstoy's birthday, at the Yasnaya Polyana estate museum in Tula Oblast, it stages leading Russian theatres' interpretations of his work.

Yasnaya Polyana, the estate in Tula Oblast's Shchyokino District where Leo Tolstoy was born, lived for much of his life, and is buried, has functioned since the Soviet era as a museum preserving his home, library and grounds for public visitation.
