Stenograffia Street Art Festival in Yekaterinburg
Stenograffia is an international street art festival held in Yekaterinburg every year since 2010, usually the first weekend of July. Artists selected through an open portfolio competition paint building facades, courtyards and underpasses across the city, working in either an experimental S-A.Lab format or a context-driven S-A.Voyager format tied to a site's history.
Yekaterinburg, the largest city in the Urals and a major Soviet-era industrial center, is not an obvious setting for one of Europe's more ambitious street art festivals, but that contrast is part of what Stenograffia set out to address.
