Kigali Cine Junction in Kigali

Kigali Cine Junction, abbreviated KCJ, is a Kigali film festival launched in July 2023 by Imitana Productions, a local production company founded by filmmakers Philbert Aime Mbabazi Sharangabo and Samuel Ishimwe. Held largely outdoors in the Nyamirambo and Biryogo neighborhoods, it is a non-competitive event built around screenings, guest masterclasses, and the revival of one of Kigali's oldest cinemas.

In July 2023, a new kind of film festival opened in Kigali, built not around a shiny convention-centre venue but around the streets and public spaces of Nyamirambo and Biryogo, two of the capital's older, densely populated neighborhoods.
