Kigali Triennial in Kigali
The Kigali Triennial is a large-scale contemporary art festival launched in Rwanda's capital, founded through the Rwanda Arts Initiative led by playwright and cultural producer Dorcy Rugamba. Framed by regional press as an ambitious new addition to the African cultural calendar, it positions Kigali as a continental hub for visual and performing arts held on a three-year cycle.
Kigali's cultural calendar has grown quickly over the past decade, but the Kigali Triennial arrived with an unusually large ambition attached to it.
