Carnival Day Saint Kitts and Nevis in Basseterre/Multi-island
Carnival Day, observed January 2 each year, is the public holiday that closes Saint Kitts and Nevis's Sugar Mas carnival season. Also called Last Lap, it follows the more formally judged New Year's Day Grand Parade with a looser, celebratory repeat parade through Basseterre. Businesses close nationwide, and revelers from both islands gather for a final day of soca, costume bands and street parties before the season winds down.
January 2 is a public holiday across Saint Kitts and Nevis, set aside specifically to close out the country's national carnival season.
