Nevis Culturama in Charlestown/Nevis

Nevis Culturama is the island's premier cultural festival, running roughly two weeks around the Emancipation Day holiday in late July and early August. Founded in 1974 to preserve Nevisian folk traditions, it combines calypso competitions, a cultural queen pageant, J'ouvert, a street parade and a food fair into a multi-week celebration centered on Charlestown.

Culturama has anchored Nevis's cultural calendar since 1974, when the Nevis Dramatic and Cultural Society created the festival to keep traditional dance troupes and folk arts from fading out of the island's Christmas season celebrations.
