The Garifuna Heritage Rite of Passage and Pilgrimage is an annual multi-day event organized by St Vincent and the Grenadines' Diaspora Affairs Department each March, bringing Garifuna descendants from across the diaspora to Argyle International Airport and on to the northern Carib communities of Fancy, Owia and Sandy Bay, culminating in a pilgrimage to Balliceaux, the island where their ancestors were exiled in the 1790s.

Each March, a small uninhabited island off St Vincent's coast receives visitors it has not seen in any real numbers for more than two centuries: descendants of the roughly 5,000 Black Caribs who were forcibly exiled there in 1796, returning to Balliceaux as part of an annual pilgrimage that has become one of the most significant acts of historical reckoning in the Eastern Caribbean.
