Desert X AlUla in AlUla
Desert X AlUla is a biennial land-art exhibition produced by The Desert Biennial, a California-founded nonprofit, staging site-specific installations across AlUla's desert landscapes. The 2026 edition is the fourth, running mid-January to late February as the centerpiece of the wider AlUla Arts Festival, alongside a Centre Pompidou collaboration and a Design Space AlUla exhibition.
Desert X began in California's Coachella Valley as an unconventional premise for a contemporary art exhibition: rather than filling gallery walls, The Desert Biennial, the nonprofit behind the project, invited artists to build large-scale, site-specific works directly into open desert terrain, where wind, light, and the landscape itself become part of each piece.
