Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale in Diriyah
The Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale is a recurring exhibition of global contemporary art staged in the JAX District of Diriyah, on the outskirts of Riyadh. Organized by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation, it opened its inaugural edition in 2021 under the title Feeling the Stones, followed by a second edition in 2024 titled After Rain, curated by Ute Meta Bauer, bringing Saudi and international artists into converted industrial warehouses.
Diriyah, the mudbrick town on the edge of Riyadh where the first Saudi state was founded in 1727, is an unusual place to encounter contemporary art.
