Tuwaiq Sculpture in Riyadh
The Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium, launched in March 2019, gathers sculptors from around the world in Riyadh's Diplomatic Quarter to carve large-scale works on-site over several weeks each year, organized by the Diplomatic Quarter General Authority as part of the wider Riyadh Art public art initiative.
Named for the Tuwaiq escarpment, the long limestone cliff formation that runs through central Saudi Arabia and shapes much of the terrain around Riyadh, the Tuwaiq International Sculpture Symposium brings an old geological landmark together with a genuinely new cultural format.
