Dakar Fashion Week in Dakar
Dakar Fashion Week is an annual runway event founded by Senegalese designer Adama Ndiaye, known professionally as Adama Paris, to raise the profile of African fashion design on an international stage. Running since around 2002, it has drawn dozens of designers from across Africa and Asia to Dakar each year.
Adama Ndiaye grew up in Europe, the daughter of a Senegalese diplomat, and built a career in banking before deciding that Senegal's fashion scene needed more visibility than it was getting.
