Festival Kaay Fecc in Dakar
Festival Kaay Fecc is Dakar's flagship international dance festival, founded in 2001 with choreographer Germaine Acogny as godmother of its first edition. Held each year at the Centre Culturel Blaise Senghor, it showcases traditional and contemporary African and international choreography, and in 2025 added a national hip-hop Battle competition.
When Kaay Fecc launched in 2001 in Dakar, it did so with an unusually strong endorsement for a new festival: Germaine Acogny, the Senegalese-French choreographer whose decades of work helped define contemporary African dance as a recognized global art form, served as godmother of that first edition, lending the young festival immediate credibility within international dance circles.
