The Kimpa Vita Festival is a feminist, eco-responsible cultural festival held each year at Dakar's Maison de la Culture Douta Seck. Named after the eighteenth-century Kongo prophetess Kimpa Vita, each edition spotlights a different African or Afro-descendant country, with 2026's seventh edition centered on the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Kimpa Vita, also known as Dona Beatriz Kimpa Vita, was a Kongo noblewoman and prophetess who in the early 1700s declared a religious movement challenging both the Portuguese colonial presence and the Catholic church's authority in the Kingdom of Kongo, a stand that led to her execution in 1706 but left her remembered across Central Africa and its diaspora as an early symbol of anti-colonial resistance and women's spiritual authority.
