The story

Partcours Dakar in Dakar

Partcours, formally Partcours: Art dans la Cite, is an annual self-guided art trail through Dakar's independent galleries and cultural spaces, held from late November into mid-December. Rather than one venue, it links exhibitions across neighborhoods like the Plateau, Medina, and Ouakam, inviting visitors to walk or drive between shows over several weeks.

Dakar's contemporary art scene is best known internationally for the Dak'Art Biennale, a government-organized event held every two years, but for over a decade the city has also hosted a very different kind of art season built from the ground up by its own galleries.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Partcours is not run by a single organizer but is a coordinated circuit built by Dakar's own independent galleries and art spaces, including venues such as Galerie36, which choose to open in parallel and share a common trail and calendar

02

The mystery stays covered

The 2025 edition, its 14th, ran from November 28 to December 14, pointing to a founding around 2011-2012 and well over a decade of continuous editions

03

The city starts moving

It runs on its own calendar, distinct from the government-organized Dak'Art Biennale held in May of even years, giving Dakar a second, gallery-driven art season built around contemporary Senegalese and West African work rather than a single curated theme

04

The water draws everyone in

Its format rewards visitors willing to explore beyond downtown, since participating spaces are spread across several distinct neighborhoods rather than concentrated in one district
