FEST Belgrade Film Festival in Belgrade
FEST, the Belgrade International Film Festival, opened on January 9, 1971 at Dom Sindikata under the slogan A Brave New World, premiering Robert Altman's MASH. For years it was the only festival in the Eastern Bloc able to draw major Hollywood stars and directors, though international sanctions in the 1990s forced its cancellation in 1993 and 1994.
On January 9, 1971, Belgrade's Dom Sindikata, the Trade Union Hall, hosted the opening of a new film festival under the slogan A Brave New World.
