Nis Film Festival in Niš
Nis Film Festival, historically called Filmski susreti, is a festival of Serbian feature-film acting founded in 1966 and staged in the open-air amphitheater of Nis Fortress. Unlike most festivals, it centers on rewarding acting rather than directing, and has hosted guests as notable as Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in its history.
Inside the walls of Nis Fortress, an Ottoman-era stronghold on the Nisava River, sits an open-air amphitheater that has hosted one of Serbia's more unusual film events since 1966.
