Vuk's Assembly Trsic in Trsic
Vukov sabor, Vuk's Assembly, has honored language reformer Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic in his birth village of Trsic near Loznica since 1933, uninterrupted except during World War Two. Held each September, it reached its 91st edition in 2024, combining exhibitions, theatre, concerts, and literary programming across Trsic, Loznica, and the nearby Tronosa Monastery.
Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic reshaped the Serbian language more thoroughly than perhaps any single figure in its modern history, reforming the Cyrillic alphabet toward a phonetic system and traveling the countryside to collect the folk epic poetry, tales, and proverbs that would anchor Serbian literary identity for generations afterward.
