Salone Civic Festival in Freetown

The Salone Civic Festival is a large national civic event held at Freetown's Miatta Civic Centre, bringing government ministries, civil society, and citizens together around accountability and national progress, with President Julius Maada Bio opening the three-day 2025 edition on December 11 before a large public crowd.

Government festivals can easily become dry, ceremonial affairs, but the Salone Civic Festival was built with a different ambition: to physically bring the machinery of the state into the same space as ordinary citizens and let them interact directly.
