Trnava Fair in Trnava

The Traditional Trnava Fair is a four-day September market and cultural event in the historic center of Trnava, one of the city's largest annual gatherings. It revives the town's medieval trading-day heritage, granted by King Bela IV in 1238, with craft markets, concerts, medieval battle reenactments and a dedicated children's zone across several city squares.

Trnava has been known as an important trading city since the Middle Ages, a status formalized in 1238 when King Bela IV granted the town rights to hold regular markets, and the city's historic Hungarian name, Nagyszombat, literally means Great Saturday, a direct reference to the Saturday markets that built its early prosperity.
