The story

Bled Days in Bled

Bled Days is Bled's most traditional summer festival, held over the fourth weekend of July with an arts and crafts fair, lakeside concerts, and local food under the Taste Bled brand. Its signature moment is Lights on the Lake, when 10,000 handmade illuminated eggshells are launched onto Lake Bled.

On the fourth weekend of July, and especially on the fixed date of July 25, Lake Bled hosts one of Slovenia's most visually distinctive traditions: the launch of roughly 10,000 handmade, illuminated eggshells onto the lake's surface after dark.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The festival's centerpiece, Lights on the Lake (Luci na jezeru), is a strikingly specific local craft tradition: roughly 10,000 illuminated eggshells are hand-made and set afloat on Lake Bled on July 25, a practice continued today by craftsman Andrej Vidic, who carries on work his father began in 1972

02

The mystery stays covered

That gives Bled Days a multigenerational, artisan-made spectacle unlike a fireworks show, one made object by object rather than mass-produced

03

The city starts moving

The festival pairs this with a free, open arts and crafts fair along the lake promenade and a curated street-food program, Taste Bled, showcasing local producers' seasonal specialities in a relaxed lakeside setting
