Dokudoc Maribor in Maribor

DOKUDOC International Documentary Film Festival launched in Maribor in 2012 during the city's year as European Capital of Culture, initially as a showcase for Slovene documentary work before broadening internationally in 2014. It screens contemporary documentaries, hosts filmmaker discussions and bestows lifetime achievement awards, with its long-time home at Maribor's medieval Judgment Tower.

When Maribor held the title of European Capital of Culture in 2012, the city used the designation to launch a range of new cultural institutions, among them a modest showcase dedicated to contemporary Slovene documentary filmmaking.
