Festival Lent in Maribor
Festival Lent is Slovenia's largest open-air summer festival, held annually along the Drava River in Maribor since its founding in 1993. Running for nine days from late June across more than 30 venues, it hosts around 700 events featuring roughly 3,800 performers from 31 countries, spanning concerts, theatre, dance, and circus performances, and has drawn over 12 million visitors across its history.
Festival Lent was founded in 1993 with a specific civic purpose: to revitalise Maribor's historic Lent district and city centre through sustained cultural programming, at a time when the area needed renewed public life following the political and economic upheavals surrounding Slovenia's independence.
