Tartini Festival in Piran
The Tartini Festival, established in 2001, is an international chamber music festival in Piran honoring Baroque violinist Giuseppe Tartini, who was born in the town in 1692. Concerts are held in heritage venues including Piran's Minorite Monastery of St. Francis, with Tartini's own 300-year-old violin sometimes displayed and played.
Piran holds a rare distinction among European towns hosting classical music festivals: it is the actual birthplace of the composer being celebrated.
