The story

Infecting the City in Cape Town

Infecting the City is a public arts festival in central Cape Town, staging performance and visual art directly in city streets and public spaces rather than conventional venues. Founded in 2008 by The Africa Centre and later run by the University of Cape Town's Institute for Creative Arts, each edition is built around a curated social theme, with its most recently confirmed edition running in November 2023.

For more than a decade, Spier Wine Farm outside Cape Town hosted an ambitious annual arts series known as the Spier Summer Season, funded by the estate and drawing performers and audiences to its rural grounds.
