Franschhoek Literary Festival in Franschhoek
The Franschhoek Literary Festival is an annual gathering of South African and international authors held over the third weekend of May in Franschhoek, in the Cape Winelands. First run in 2007, it fills the small town's venues with panel discussions, book talks and debates, and channels part of its proceeds into a school-library outreach programme.
The Franschhoek Literary Festival held its first edition in 2007, bringing together South African and international authors for a weekend of talks and discussions in a Cape Winelands village better known internationally for its wine estates and French Huguenot history than for literature.
