Aardklop is an annual Afrikaans-language arts festival held in Potchefstroom, North West province, running continuously since 1998. Each October the six-day event brings more than 700 artists to venues across the town for theatre, music, cabaret and visual arts, drawing an attendance of roughly 70,000.
Potchefstroom, one of South Africa's oldest towns in North West province, has long carried a reputation as a cultural center, home over the decades to a notable concentration of South African writers and artists connected to the town and its university.
