DMZ International Documentary Film Festival in Goyang/Paju
DMZ Docs brings documentary filmmakers to Goyang and Paju each autumn, screening competitive international and Korean features and shorts under themes of peace, division, and reconciliation tied to the nearby Demilitarized Zone. Founded in 2009 and jointly presented by Gyeonggi Province, the festival awards a 15 million won grand prize and pairs screenings with director talks and panels.
The DMZ International Documentary Film Festival, often shortened to DMZ Docs, was founded in 2009 to give documentary filmmaking a platform explicitly tied to the themes surrounding Korea's Demilitarized Zone: division, peace, coexistence, and reconciliation.
