Citizen performers, traditional games like jegi kicking and yutnori, a decades-spanning singing competition, and a history-quiz treasure hunt turn the district's early twentieth-century streets into a participatory history lesson.
Gunsan's Wondosim district preserves one of Korea's densest concentrations of early twentieth-century architecture, a legacy of the port city's role as a major point of Japanese colonial-era rice export, when Japanese-style buildings, banks, and warehouses were constructed along the waterfront.
