Eastern Equatoria Cultural Diversity Festival in Torit
The Eastern Equatoria Cultural Diversity Festival brings together communities from across the state in Freedom Square, Torit, to celebrate shared heritage through dance, food, and storytelling. Organized in partnership with state ministries and international partners including UNESCO and the Swiss Development Cooperation, the festival explicitly promotes peace and social cohesion among Eastern Equatoria's many ethnic groups.
Freedom Square in Torit, the capital of Eastern Equatoria State, takes its name in a state that has lived through some of South Sudan's most difficult episodes of conflict, making it a fitting site for a festival explicitly built around reconciliation.
