Teruel's July patron-saint festival built around El Torico, the city's bull-statue emblem, and La Vaquilla, a smaller-scale cattle-running event through barricaded central streets. Distinct from Pamplona's larger Sanfermines format, it uses younger animals and shorter routes, giving the festival a community-scale character centred on this Aragonese city's own civic identity.
Teruel's July patron-saint festival, the Fiestas del Angel, centres on El Torico, a small bronze bull statue mounted on a column in the city's main square that has served as an emblem of Teruel for generations, and on La Vaquilla, a running event in which young cattle are released through barricaded streets while participants test their nerve alongside them in a smaller-scale echo of the bull-running traditions found elsewhere in Aragon and neighbouring regions.
