Kandy Randoli Perahera in Kandy

The Randoli Perahera comprises the final five, grander nights of Kandy's Esala Perahera, featuring over one hundred elephants, palanquins representing the four devales' queen consorts, fire dancers and Kandyan drummers. It builds on the preceding Kumbal Perahera to reach the festival's most elaborate and crowded finale.

After five nights of gradually building spectacle, Kandy's Esala Perahera shifts into its grander phase, the Randoli Perahera, named for the ornate palanquins, or randoli, that represent the queen consorts of the city's four devales and join the procession for the first time in this stretch.
