Carnaval Roadmars Paramaribo in Paramaribo
Carnaval Roadmars is a young but fast-growing street parade in Paramaribo, now in its third consecutive year as of 2026, organized by initiator Ian Ramadhin to build Suriname's own Trinidad-style carnival culture. The event features costumed dancers moving through the capital's streets and a second road show in the Para district, aiming to grow into a tourist draw.
Suriname sits within reach of some of the Caribbean's most famous carnival cultures, yet the country never developed its own large-scale pre-Lenten street carnival in the mold of Trinidad or the Dutch Antilles.
