Black Movie Geneva in Geneva
Running each January in Geneva since 1999, Black Movie showcases independent and world cinema from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and other regions underrepresented in mainstream festival programming. Concentrated largely around the compact Grutli cultural center, it offers a smaller, more discovery-focused counterpart to Geneva's larger autumn and spring film festivals.
Black Movie has run each January in Geneva since 1999, built around a mission distinct from the city's other film festivals: showcasing independent and world cinema that rarely reaches mainstream commercial distribution, with programming drawn heavily from filmmakers and stories outside the usual Hollywood and Western European circuit.
