Moon and Stars Locarno in Locarno
Moon and Stars turns Locarno's Piazza Grande into an open-air concert venue for eleven July evenings, sharing only the square itself with the city's separate August film festival. Launched in 2004 by Good News Productions and the publisher Ringier after a test R.E.M. concert the year before, the series books major pop, rock and rap acts for multi-night runs, packing crowds onto cobblestones ringed by arcaded stone buildings.
Moon and Stars turns Locarno's Piazza Grande, the same sweeping stone square used for the city's famous film festival, into an open-air concert venue for eleven summer evenings each July, though the two events share little beyond the piazza itself.
