Damascus: Rose and Heritage in Damascus
Damascus: Rose and Heritage centers on the annual Damascene rose harvest in Al-Marah, a mountain village in rural Damascus where families have picked Rosa damascena by hand each dawn every spring for generations. Recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2019, the harvest has grown into a village-wide festival blending agricultural ritual, craft demonstration, and folk celebration around one of the world's oldest cultivated rose varieties.
North of Damascus, in the mountain village of Al-Marah, spring begins with a race against the sun.
