Kurdish Days Festival in Damascus
Kurdish Days Festival in Damascus is a newly launched cultural forum showcasing Kurdish language, poetry, history, music, and dance in the Syrian capital, first organized by the Arab Writers Union and later expanded with Ministry of Culture backing. Coming after decades of restrictions on public Kurdish cultural expression, its inaugural editions in 2026 have been described by participants and local press as a marker of growing openness in post-Assad Syria.
In spring 2026, Damascus hosted the first editions of the Kurdish Days festival, a multi-day cultural forum centered on Kurdish language, literature, history, and performance, organized initially by the Arab Writers Union and expanded shortly after with backing from Syria's Ministry of Culture.
