Chiayi City International Band Festival in Chiayi City

Chiayi City's International Band Festival, running each December into the New Year since its first edition in 1993, is Taiwan's longest-running event of its kind, branding the city as the country's Band Music Capital. The 2025 edition combined indoor concerts, a street parade with dozens of participating bands, and outdoor marching performances.

Chiayi City did not have an obvious claim to a global music identity before 1993, when its Cultural Affairs Bureau launched the first Band Festival with no international branding attached at all.
